2006
A total of 195 Chinook passed upstream
of the weir between September 25 and October 8 increasing the
season total to 243. Daily Chinook passage counts ranged
from three to 57. Other fish species observed included
striped bass, Sacramento
blackfish, Sacramento pikeminnow, Sacramento sucker, carp, and
black bass (Figure 1).

A total of 14 ad-clipped Chinook (i.e.,
indicating presence of coded wire tag) passed upstream of the
weir during the sampling period. Forklengths ranged from
567 mm to 1,008 mm (avg = 810 mm; Figure 2; Table 1).

Environmental conditions fluctuated at
the weir site during the sampling period. Flow at Orange
Blossom Bridge (OBB) ranged from 1,266 cfs to 1,321 cfs;
turbidity ranged between 0.5 NTU and 2.0 NTU; and dissolved
oxygen (DO) ranged between 9.9 mg/L and 10.2 mg/L. DO at
Rough 'n Ready Island (RRI) in the San Joaquin River's Deep
Water Ship Channel ranged from 6.8 mg/L to 7.8
mg/L. Daily instantaneous water
temperature at the Stanislaus River weir ranged from 54.1ºF to
56.4ºF.
