January
1 through January 14, 2007
A total of 26 Chinook passed
upstream of the weir between January 1 and January 14
increasing the season total to 3,048 (Figure 1). Chinook
daily passage counts ranged from 0 to 7 fish. Total-lengths
ranged from 546 mm to 1,054 mm (avg = 818 mm). Other fish
species observed included a few Sacramento Suckerfish, and
one Sacramento Pikeminnow.

2006.
One ad-clipped Chinook; FL:
592mm; (i.e., indicating presence of coded wire tag) passed
upstream of the weir during this sample period. We have
observed a total of 57 (1.9%) ad-clipped Chinook pass the
weir this season.
During the sample period we
recovered three spawned out Chinook carcasses (Figure 2)
that washed up onto the weir (all carcasses were male). All
carcasses were processed and then passed downstream of the
weir. None of the carcasses processed were ad-clipped fish.

weir January 5, 2007.
No
O. mykiss passed
the weir during this sample period. Our net upstream season
total for live O. mykiss
past the weir this season is currently at 7 fish.
Environmental conditions
remained fairly constant at the weir site during the sample
period. The weather pattern during this sample period has
stabilized and has been quite cold and sunny with no major
rain events. Flow at Orange Blossom Bridge (OBB) ranged
from 933 cfs to 952 cfs, and flow at Ripon (RIP) ranged from
1,146 cfs to 1,167 cfs. The weir is operating well under
the current high flow conditions with the effort of one
cleaning per day (Figure 3). Turbidity ranged between 0.34
NTU and 1.07 NTU; and dissolved oxygen (DO) ranged between
10.15 mg/L and 10.87 mg/L. DO at Rough 'n Ready Island (RRI)
in the San Joaquin River's Deep Water Ship Channel ranged
from 10.20 mg/L to 11.23 mg/L. Daily instantaneous water
temperature at the Stanislaus River weir ranged from 45.4ºF
to 50.1ºF.
